John Wetli’s career is dedicated to helping others put their lives back together. Whether it’s an overreaching prosecutor, an obstinate judge, or a jealous former lover that brings someone face to face with the criminal justice system, John is dedicated to working tirelessly for his clients and is a voice for them in and out of the courtroom. John’s goal is to help his clients navigate through some of the most difficult times in their lives and come out the other side unscathed.
John is a founding partner at Archambault, Grismer, and Wetli. His practice focuses on complex litigation, trial work, and all aspects of criminal defense work. He is at his best and most comfortable in court and on the record, fighting for his clients.
Prior to founding AGW with Stephanie and Elsa, John spent his entire 12 year legal career as a public defender in the Denver and Colorado Springs regional offices. In those 12 years John gained a wealth of courtroom experience, taking close to 100 cases to trial on everything from DUI to first degree murder, and secured acquittals on all levels of criminal cases. He has extensive experience in DUIs, misdemeanors, domestic violence, white collar crime, sexual assault, burglary, aggravated robbery, crimes of violence, and murder. Serving thousands of clients over 12 years, John also became an excellent negotiator, working out pleas to best serve clients, as well as hundreds of dismissals
Whatever jurisdiction he is in, John is well-respected by judges, prosecutors, and colleagues, and he has earned a reputation as a fierce advocate for his clients and an attorney who was is willing to go to trial.
